In order to promote contacts among young researchers in Philosophy of Science and the construction of a network of young researchers at an international level, the Société de philosophie des sciences (http://www.sps-philoscience.org/) organizes each year an International Doctoral Conference in Philosophy of Sciences. In 2024, this conference will be held in Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, September 19-20. During the Doctoral Conference, PhD students and young researchers having defended their thesis less than two years ago, will be presenting their work in Philosophy of Science broadly understood (general philosophy of science, philosophy of logic, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of physics, philosophy of biology, philosophy of medicine, philosophy of social sciences, theory of scientific knowledge etc.). The talks will be held preferably in French, though communications in English are also accepted. Each presentation will last 45 minutes (discussion included), with the first 5 minutes devoted to a general presentation of the subject of the thesis, and will be followed by some time for discussion. Without compromising on the usual standards of their own field,

  • The speakers from the 2nd year of their PhD onwards, are invited to stress their contributions to general problems in Philosophy of Science.

  • The speakers in their first year thesis are invited to stress their contributions to methodological issues that are specific to thesis work in Philosophy of Science.

PARTICIPATION

PhD students and young researchers are invited to submit, before March 1st, 2024:

  • A long abstract (6000 characters max. spaces included) prepared for blind review. It is imperative for the proposed intervention to be in direct line with the topic of the PhD dissertation project.

  • The following informations must be given in the "Comment" field of the submission form: name, surname, subject of the thesis, name of PhD advisor, institution, year of the first inscription in postgraduate studies (or, for young researchers, date of thesis defense (if in 2022 or 2023)).

All submissions should be made via our online submission system: https://rdips2024.sciencesconf.org/submission/submit. Notification of acceptance will be given in June. Participants are welcome to become members of the SPS (10 € for students). Students who are not going to present are also invited to attend the conference.
